After a long day of driving from Concord Tennessee to Concord Alabama, Liz and I were on to Concord Louisiana, which is just a speck of a crossroads on Google maps. We arrived just before sunset. We drove down the two streets in all directions until we reached open fields and turned around. A half dozen houses were scattered about, but there was no sign of life. There is a fire station and The Concord Christadelphian Ecclesia Church.
We stopped to take a picture with the sign out front, and while I was posing, about a half dozen white cars drove up and parked in the back. I gathered my courage and approached the latest arrival.

Fortunately, we arrived on Wednesday evening when much of the town gathers for Bible study.
We were given a tour of the 100+ year old church and sat for a spell to join the Bible study. It was serendipity to arrive at one of the two times during the week when there was any sort of gathering in Concord, Louisiana.
Over the course of my travels, I have sat in on many services as a way to meet folks. This was my first Bible study, but not my last. We jumped in the car and headed for Texas. It had been a grueling day starting in Concord, Tennessee, stopping in Concord, Alabama for lunch, before our visit to Louisiana. "I promise you Lizzy we'll stay in the best little bed and breakfast and have a proper dinner at the best restaurant in East Texas." Well the "best" I could do for dinner was a vending machine meal at the Best Western.
Two important lessons learned from this stop: 1) If you hang around a while sometimes lucky moments happen. 2) If you plan better, you don't have to hang around and hope for lucky moments to happen.
