Concord, Texas in Cherokee County looked to be a just a church and a way too big graveyard. We wandered around checking out the names, for reportedly the earliest settlers may have come from Massachusetts. We circled the church and we're heading for the car.

Robert Glenn Brewer, who at 87 was the oldest man in these parts. Rob's great-grandfather was one of the earliest settlers. He regaled us with stories of the Concord of his childhood: the schoolhouse, the three general stores - one featured older folks playing dominoes in the front while the boys snuck in the back and tried to "snitch" a piece of chewing gum.
