​Concord Florida
Liz and I had a wonderful short visit to Concord Florida, also known as “Coonbottom.” This little town north of Tallahassee, tucked up against the Georgia border has a rich and complicated history, so it will take a while to process the stories we heard, but here are a few pictures and a brief description of some the friendly people we met.

​Richard R Golden, Jr. has held a variety of jobs all around the county, but his homing instinct is strong and he always returns to his hometown. Richard is also an author and illustrator of a children’s book.
Colby Marsh works at Concord Deer Processing during the hunting season, and has his own little farm. He loves ( and hates) the quiet of Concord.
Joe, the gregarious owner of The Concord Country Store. He is originally from Jerusalem, but moved to Tallahassee 30 years ago. While he has has been to Mecca twice and elsewhere around the world, his favorite home has been his last three years in Concord Florida.
Joey Shadowrach has had better times, but riding 5 miles every morning helps him overcome his stiff back from 30 years of laying carpet. What he likes about Concord is “I like how it’s lawless; you’d have to be an idiot to get arrested out here.”
