A fortunate discovery - The Concord neighborhood in Edina Minnesota
While searching for cousin Curt’s house in Minneapolis, we found stumbled on “Concord Ave” on Google maps So after spending the night in a funky bed and breakfast in Minneapolis, we headed out early the next morning to make a 15-minute detour to Edina which is a suburb that has largely been absorbed by the sprawl of Minneapolis.
Concord Avenue led to The Concord Elementary School. Now this was a sign that we were on the trail of finding another Concoird to add to our list. The criteria is that an area is, or once was, called “Concord. “ There are hundreds of businesses that have the word “Concord” in their name; these don’t qualify for our quest, It was summer time, so the doors were unlocked and the halls and classroom was largely empty except for a janitor and a couple of teachers working on their lesson plans for the coming fall.
Mitra has loved living in the area during the past 38 years after moving from Iran.
Ellen grew up in the area and returned to teach in Concord. "What I love is the sense of community. The students love it and they have wonderful teachers and facilities."
They both confirmed that the area was called "Concord," so we had another one to add to our list! We hit the road and headed to West Concord. an hour to the south.
